The High Inspector of Justice conducted a working visit to “Luigj Gurakuqi” University in Shkodër, within the framework of the institution cooperation with the law faculties of Public Universities in the country.
Mr. Metani was welcomed to the premises of the Rectorate and had an informative meeting with the Rector of the University of Shkodra, Ms. Rajmonda Këçira, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Mr. Gaspër Kokaj and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law, Ms. Irma Baraku. The conversation was followed by the signing of the memorandum of cooperation between High Inspector of Justice, Mr. Artur Metani and Dean of the Faculty of Law Mr. Gaspër Kokaj.
The memorandum foresees, among other things, the possibility of students of the Department of Law taking on internships at the Office of the High Inspector of Justice, in addition to the organization of joint activities with a focus on legal and professional education in the field of justice.
High Inspector of Justice, Mr. Artur Metani noted that the HIJ Office is committed to raising awareness and to the professional support for the new generation of legal professionals, as a real contribution to the democratization of the society and the consolidation of the rule of law.
“I strongly believe that justice reform cannot be successful unless the whole society contributes to it, all the actors who participate in the social, economic and justice direction in Albania, such as the Faculty of Law of Shkodra, part of the future professionals of the system in Albania. Therefore, we willingly thought about this initiative and we are excited to move forward with it as soon as possible, both with contributions for student internships as well as through the contributions that the teaching staff of the Faculty of Law of Shkodra can give to the High Inspector of Justice,” said Mr. Metani.
Dean Gaspër Kokaj expressed his gratitude for the formalization of cooperation with the HIJ. “I am glad that such an important institution in Albania, above all in the field of justice, within the framework of the reform, takes the initiative and invites us to make this agreement, because we, the universities outside Tirana, are usually distant and less attentive, and for this reason this much-welcomed agreement becomes seven more valuable for us.”
Then Mr. Metani conducted an open lecture with students of the Faculty of Law on the role of the HIJ in the new architecture of the Justice system, responding to the audience interest on aspects of work, investigation and disciplinary proceedings, on the ethics of magistrates as well as the way young people see the justice system and its functioning.
