High Inspector of Justice Mr. Artur Metani conducted a working visit to Stockholm (Kingdom of Sweden). Mr. Metani and the HIJ delegation accompanied by the ambassador of Albania in Sweden Mrs. Albana Dautllari, held meetings in the Parliament, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, in which the function and role of the High Inspector of Justice and the contribution to strengthening the rule of law were presented as a key element for Albania’s negotiation process for membership in the European Union.
The interest in the progress of the rule of law in Albania and the work of the institutions for the consolidation of democracy was at the center of the meeting where Mr. Metani participated in the committee for EU matters in the parliament with the chairman of the committee Mr. Erik Ottoson and with two Albanian MPs originating from Kosovo, Mrs. Aida Birinxhiku and Mr. Arbër Gashi. Mr. Metani responded to the interlocutors’ interest in matters of independence of institutions and democratic developments in Albania.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the meeting with the head of the department for Europe, Mrs. Cecilia Ruhström-Ruin, and the director for Southeastern Europe and EU enlargement, Mr. Björn Linderfalk, High Inspector of Justice discussed the progress of the implementation of the justice reform in Albania, paying attention to the role of the High Inspector of Justice in the system.
Matters of magistrates’ work standards, public trust in the justice system and the exchange of experiences were discussed in the meeting the delegation had at the Ministry of Justice, with the general director of foreign relations, Dr. Anna-Carin Svensson.
