NEGOTIATIONS WITH EU, HIJ DISCUSSIONS ON ASPECTS OF ITS OWN WORK

The Unit of Inspectors, that of Assistant Inspectors and members of the cabinet of the Office of the High Inspector of Justice held a consultative working meeting, where the document “Common Position of the European Union” was discussed, in the framework of the opening of Albania’s membership negotiations for the first basic chapter group. In the first part of the meeting, the findings of the report on aspects of the activity of the High Inspector of Justice and the taking of the necessary measures in order to address the findings were discussed. Discussions were extended to aspects of daily work processes, from the administration of a complaint that can be made to a judge or prosecutor, to the investigation and disciplinary proceedings, and points of view were shared for improving the pace of work, based on existing capacities.

In the second part of the activity, the manual “Instructions and elements of methodology for carrying out the thematic inspection in Albania” was presented, which is drawn up by CEPEJ experts in the framework of cooperation with EU4Justice, for increasing the efficiency of HIJ. Inspectors and assistant inspectors made comparisons with existing work practice with thematic and institutional inspections, based on the approved methodology and the ways in which the work models proposed by CEPEJ experts can be used.
