THE HIGH INSPECTOR OF JUSTICE COMMENCED COOPERATION WITH OPDAT MISSION OF US DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE

The Office of the High Inspector of Justice and OPDAT mission of the US Department of Justice held a virtual roundtable on the disciplinary investigation process into allegations of misconduct by judges and prosecutors in Albania.

In his introductory speech, the High Inspector of Justice Artur Metani, thanked the resident legal advisor of OPDAT in Albania, Mrs. Michelle Lakomy and expressed his satisfaction on the launch of the cooperation with OPDAT mission to strengthen the capacity of the HIJ, in terms of best practices of disciplinary investigation against magistrates, and in function of the mission to restore public confidence in justice.

Inspectors and Assistant Inspectors of the Office of the High Inspector of Justice discussed with Ms. Leslie Ann Gerado, Counsel to the Department of Justice, Office of Professional Responsibility with regards to cases and disciplinary investigation practices to improve the admissions process, review and undertaking action, based on allegations of misconduct by magistrates in office in the new justice institutions created as a result of the justice reform.

This is the first of a series of events that OPDAT will organize in cooperation with the Office of the High Inspector of Justice, as part of a special training and technical assistance program for the HIJ.
