High Inspector of Justice Artur Metani received today the Minister of Justice of Kosovo, Mrs. Albulena Haxhiu and her accompanying team during their official visit in our country.
Their conversation focused on justice reform, a process which started in Albania 5 years ago.
Mr. Metani made a presentation of the HIJ Office and its work as a new institution emerged from the justice reform, whereas Mrs. Haxhiu said that Kosovo is interested in gaining experience from Albania related to the vetting process of magistrates.
The High Inspector of Justice expressed his willingness to share the work experience of the institution he leads whenever requested, experience, which was positively assessed by the Minister of Justice of Kosovo.
“This process was necessary for us,” said Mr. Metani. Despite the difficulties and challenges it is a process that has brought success. That is why I encourage your efforts to reform the judiciary, despite the fact that it is a long and difficult road. “Today, prosecutors and judges in Albania are protected by law and there is no way they can be influenced by anyone, only if they, themselves choose to do so.”
High Inspector of Justice Metani and Minister of Justice Haxhiu agreed to keep in contact so as to exchange the experience in this new challenge for Kosovo.
