A delegation from the High Inspector of Justice (HIJ) participated in the General Assembly of the European Network of Justice Inspection Services (RESIJ), where representatives of counterpart institutions from member states discussed the Network’s strategic priorities, the expansion of international cooperation, and the development of common standards in the field of judicial inspection.
The Assembly was opened by the President of RESIJ and Chief Inspector of the Romanian Judicial Inspection, Mrs. Roxana Ioana Petcu, who welcomed the participating delegations, commended the commitment of the member states, and presented the Network’s upcoming initiatives. The proposed priorities included the preparation of comparative legal studies on issues of common interest, strengthening RESIJ’s public visibility, enhancing institutional communication, consolidating partnerships with other European networks, and improving the Network’s operational framework.
The Head of the French General Inspectorate of Justice, Mr. Christophe Straudo, then presented RESIJ’s recent activities and highlighted the Network’s growing role in supporting European Union institutions through joint reports and comparative analyses. He also proposed expanding the Network to include additional European countries and developing a common methodology for the preparation of joint reports.
During the discussions, the Albanian delegation emphasized the importance of professional exchange programmes among counterpart institutions. It shared the High Inspector of Justice’s experience of cooperation with the judicial inspectorates of Italy and Spain, as well as plans to continue exchanging best practices with the French General Inspectorate of Justice. The delegation also stressed the need to ensure adequate financial planning to support the sustainability and effectiveness of such exchange programmes.
The Assembly also addressed issues related to the expansion of the Network, the harmonization of judicial inspection methodologies, the development of comparative studies on disciplinary and ethical matters, and the enhancement of RESIJ’s visibility through the publication of reports and strengthened institutional communication.
