Joana Sorraj

She holds the position of Non-Magistrate Inspector at the Office of the High Inspector of Justice.

She graduated as a “Lawyer” in 2003, at the Faculty of Law, University of Salento, Italy. In 2007, she completed her master’s studies at the Faculty of Law in Tirana, while in 2017 she defended her “Doctor of Legal Sciences” degree at this faculty. She received the title of lawyer in 2005.

During the period 2006-2013, she served as a legal specialist at the institution of the President of the Republic. As a lawyer, she also worked in other public institutions, specifically at the Ministry of Social Welfare and Youth and the Municipality of Tirana, until 2017.

Furthermore, in the years 2017-2020, she worked as a legal advisor at the Legal Service Unit, at the Independent Qualification Commission.

Ms. Sorraj was a consultant/expert at the event “Support Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania to draft the fifth periodic report under the Convention on Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW)”.

Since 2003, she has continued to teach at several private and public universities in the country.

She specializes in the field of public law and has completed several specializations in the field of human rights.

She is fluent in English, Italian and Spanish language.
