The High Inspector of Justice, Mr. Artur Metani, participated in the General Assembly of RESIJ (European Network of Judicial Inspection Services), together with other members, representatives, and counterparts from judicial inspection institutions and judicial systems from Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Moldova, Spain, Portugal, and Romania.
The event was hosted by the General Council of the Judiciary of Spain and took place at the premises of the Supreme Court of Spain in Madrid.
In their opening remarks at the Assembly, the President of the Supreme Court of Spain, María Isabel Perelló Doménech, and the President of RESIJ, Stéphane Noël, emphasized the importance of strengthening interinstitutional cooperation, as well as the attention that must be given to standards of integrity, transparency, and efficiency in European judicial systems.
During the proceedings, discussions focused on the priorities and future agenda of RESIJ, including joint projects with the European Commission and CEPEJ (European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice of the Council of Europe). The discussions also addressed challenges related to the digitalization process and the use of artificial intelligence in justice, the comparative study on judicial inspections and mechanisms for integrity and corruption prevention, as well as statutory amendments and the expansion of RESIJ’s cooperation with other European partners and institutions.
Part of the discussions also focused on the cooperation between RESIJ and ARNJIS (Arab Network of Justice Inspection Services), a relationship that has been developed over the years within the framework of cooperation with CEPEJ, as well as preparations for the international activities planned to take place in Lisbon during the month of September.
At the conclusion of the Assembly, the participants reaffirmed the importance of exchanging best practices among judicial inspection institutions and expressed their shared commitment to strengthening the independence, transparency, and efficiency of justice systems in Europe.
