THE HIGH INSPECTOR OF JUSTICE MEETS WITH STUDENTS ENGAGED IN THE “FORUMLEX” INITIATIVE

The High Inspector of Justice, Mr. Artur Metani, held an informative meeting with a group of law students engaged in the “ForumLex” initiative, within the framework of the programme for public information and legal education. While presenting the competences of the institution, and in the context of their curriculum in constitutional law, Mr. Metani explained to the young participants the concept of the separation of powers, their independence, and the role of the High Inspector of Justice among the three powers: the executive, the legislature and the judiciary. He added that the Constitution has provided for this institution as a mechanism for controlling and overseeing the work of the judiciary regarding violations or abuses, but without infringing upon its independence in decision-making.

The High Inspector of Justice, Artur Metani, responded to the participants’ interest in aspects of the work of the HIJ over the years, as well as in developments outside the institution concerning its role and public expectations.

The students were also introduced to the internal organization of the institution, working practices, and the importance of transparency and communication with the public, particularly with young people and the academic community. They also received answers from judge-magistrate Arjeta Lika and assistant inspector Julis Zebi regarding the manner of submitting and handling a complaint before the HIJ, the rights of the complainant and of the magistrate, etc.
