HIJ AND OSCE CONTINUE COOPERATION TO STRENGTHEN ACCOUNTABILITY IN THE JUSTICE SYSTEM

The High Inspector of Justice, Mr. Artur Metani held a working meeting with the Head of the OSCE Presence in Albania, Ambassador Michel Tarran.

During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the cooperation between the Office of the High Inspector of Justice and the OSCE Presence in Albania over recent years, ongoing projects, as well as initiatives and projects planned for the future.

An important part of the discussions focused on recent developments in the justice system, as well as issues related to the activities of the High Inspector of Justice. In this context, the role of the HIJ in ensuring accountability within the judicial system was emphasized, including the handling of complaints and disciplinary proceedings against judges and prosecutors.

The meeting also addressed the importance of respecting due process, safeguarding the independence of the judiciary and prosecution services, and ensuring a consistent and coherent approach in the exercise of institutional responsibilities.

High Inspector of Justice Artur Metani and Ambassador Michel Tarran also exchanged views on developments related to the effective administration of justice and strengthening public trust in the justice system.

Both interlocutors shared the view on the need for and importance of institutional cooperation and continued support to strengthen accountability mechanisms and the standards of the rule of law.
